Ingredients

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila (Blanco or Reposado)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Triple sec (like Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) Simple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Ice

Variations

Spicy Margarita:
Add a few slices of jalapeño to the shaker.
Frozen Margarita:
Blend all ingredients with 1 cup of ice.

Instructions

Rim the Glass (optional):
  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a glass.
  • Dip the rim into salt to coat.

Shake:
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine:
    • Tequila
    • Lime juice
    • Triple sec
    • Simple syrup (if desired)
  • Add ice and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds.

Serve:
  • Fill the salt-rimmed glass with fresh ice.
  • Strain the margarita into the glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel.
