Ingredients
1 can (14 oz / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
1 can (12 oz / 354ml) evaporated milk
1/2 cup (120 ml)
fresh Key lime juice
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1–2 sleeves Maria cookies (or graham crackers as an alternative)

Instructions

Blend the filling:
In a blender, combine:
Sweetened condensed milk
Evaporated milk
Fresh lime juice
Blend until smooth and creamy.

Layer the Carlota:
In a medium glass dish or loaf pan (8×8 or similar):
Spread a thin layer of the lime mixture at the bottom.
Add a layer of Maria cookies, covering the bottom.
Pour more lime mixture on top to cover the cookies.
Repeat the layering until you run out of filling, ending with the cream on top.

Chill:
Cover and refrigerate for
at least 4 hours
(or overnight) until the dessert is firm and the cookies have softened into a cake-like texture.

Serve:
Garnish with lime slices or zest.
Cut into squares and enjoy cold!
